RE—As part of my teacher worship this week we discussed how we could help try to combat loneliness in our community, the children came up with some lovely ideas. One of their ideas was to make cards for people who may be lonely and to give these out, I loved this suggestion and Father Peter has very kindly said that we can have a box of them placed at the back of church. Please can each child make at least one card to go in the box (feel free to make more), bring them into school by Thursday and I will pass them on to Father Peter. Make them bright and colourful please children. Inside you could write something like this

To the reader of this card

Remember you are not alone, Jesus is in your heart.

Love the Year 4 children at Our Lady Star Star of the Sea (We are not adding names to keep our children safe).

Spellings given out on 3.2.2020 to be quizzed on 10.2.2020

The children thought of loads of great, fun ways to learn their spellings on Friday. Please ask them which way they would like to try (the nerf gun spelling quiz where you get blasted if you are too slow was not my idea! Mine were more sedate like flour on a baking tray and water and a paintbrush outside on garden flags, so please don’t hold me accountable for any Nerf gun related injuries! )

Reading

I have met with each one of you this week to discuss your reading with you. We decided we MUST timetable in our reading at home to make sure we are doing twenty minutes at least, daily. Decide with your adults whether this will be in the morning, when you get home from school or at bedtime - then put it on your timetable to remind yourselves. It is crucial to put this time in at your stage in school so that you become passionate readers who give yourselves a chance to get really into the story you read. Reading is such a gift!
