White Rose Summer Week 1 Compare Decimals

History

Today, for history, you have to prove that Vikings were maybe not as bad as everyone says. Not everything we hear about them is true and perhaps there is more to them than bloodthirsty warriors.

Look at the slideshow below where you will find numbered sources of evidence - that prove different things about Vikings.

Look at your statements about Vikings and pick the appropriate source which proves that fact. Write the number in your table.

The answers are below.

You may find it easier to print out the sources so you can look at them all at once and decide which would fit best. Some prove more than one thing about Vikings.

Year 4 Home learning for Tuesday 23rd June

English

Welcome to your first Viking myth. It would be really good if you could read it aloud to a grown up. You need to read up to and including page 9 then answer the first sheet of questions.

WE ARE FOCUSING ON INFERRING CHARACTERS’ THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS in this comprehension

Then continue to read the rest and answer the second sheet.

I have included the answers so you can self-mark. Your answer might not be in exactly the same words as mine. Use your best judgement to see if you are saying the same/similar thing but in different words!

Maths

Today I have done you a revision video of all the things you have learned about decimals. I want you to have your maths book in front of you and take part in all the guided practice screens I do with you.

It is a bit long - so you may want to do half then have a little break. But you must focus and follow the progression.

Then you have a nice bit of Art.

Art

Please look at the Art page to see what Mrs Curtis wants you to do today!

Year 4 Home learning for Monday 22nd June

Good morning Year 4!

For the next 2 weeks, we are going to be reading lots of Viking myths and practising lots of different reading skills along the way

Watch the video of me below - (Jinxy cat is in the background having a wash. Don’t let her distract you!)

Then watch the film ‘How Odin created the world.’

Then I would like you to recreate Yygrasil, the tree of life, drawing and labelling the different worlds as you go down the tree. I would love to see pictures of these - please send!

Today’s lesson is dividing 1 or 2 digit numbers by a hundred.

Remember what you know about place value. When you divide by ten all numbers jump one place to the right.

How many jumps to the right will you make to divide by one hundred?

RE

Today you are going to be finding about the 7 Sacraments. Then I have set you a blank book template 2do in Purple Mash to make your own book about the sacraments.

  1. Read the information and then watch the video

  2. Create your book

Sumdog

Unfortunately, this week is our last week of being able to access Sum Dog. I have set you some decimals practice and some other things if you want to make the most of it, before the subscription runs out at the end of the week!

Year 4 Confusion with White Rose maths lessons! Please read

Hi everyone,

I believe there is some confusion regarding the white rose maths lessons. When you open year 4 White Rose it comes up with the latest lessons they have created. They are up to Summer week 7.

We are using The unit labelled week 1 (not Summer. It is the lowest box on the image below that you need to click on. The activities are matched to this.

WHITE ROSE 1.JPG
WHITE ROSE 2.JPG

I hope this makes things clear. You just need to minimise Summer Term - Week 7 and this list will come up for you to select week 1.

Year 4 Tuesday 9th June Home learning

Today you are going to research facts about Martin Luther King. Read the information from the following websites and watch the video of his speech ‘I’ve been to the mountain top.’

Vocabulary that you might need to explore today – equality, boycott, tolerant, entitled, segregation.

Today you are going to write a quiz for your family and friends based on the life of Martin Luther King.

I have set you this task on Purple Mash in 2quiz. As you have never used this before, you will need to watch some help videos. Click on the icon like this at the top of the Purple Mash screen to watch help videos:

As there are many types of quiz question (all with help videos) I would just like you to focus on two question types - text and image and MCQ (multiple choice questions) Watch the introduction video then the video for these types of question.

Then make your quiz!!

Try to include some of the new vocabulary you have learnt in your questions. Test your quiz out on your family at home or your friends.

Today please watch Week 1 (not Summer) Lesson 2 Tenths as decimals then complete the sheets below it. Finally, mark it using the answer sheet. Ask a grown up if stuck.
