What a week! Things are at full speed now as we prepare for the festive weeks ahead. Last night saw our Maths Mastery curriculum evening, it was so lovely to meet new parents and catch up with parents that have been with us for a while. Past pupils came for a reminisce and our wonderful children showed everyone what a fantastic school we have.
In Art…
Reception Used special finger paints to create holly leaves and red berries. we tried carefully to use just two fingers and either stipple or smooth the paint on. These look amazing and will be decorating the door frame to the Create room very soon. (It was lovely to meet so many of you at the curriculum evening).
Year one completed their collograph printmaking by testing the blocks we made last week. These worked so well, as gasps of delight and surprise filled the air after each print.
Year two took a little rest from our design technology sessions this week to think about our school community. Together with the library, we make Christmas cards, for some of our older neighbors. These cards were made with such love and care , thank you year two for being you!
Year three recapped on the artist Henri Matisse, We last looked at him in year two when we studied the snail. We spoke of why Henri moved from painting to collage in his later years and tried recreating his style for ourselves. This shows how our cutting/scissor skills are improving.
Year four drew with paint,as we over painted last sessions painting on different paper surfaces. Using a tiny brush we needed a steady hand and bags of focus to draw so delicately. Our brush control is coming along nicely.
Year five Added the red layer/third to our reduction block printing. After cleaning the pad from last week’s yellow. we drew on this weeks red detail and carefully printed over the top of the yellow layer/third. Things are starting to take shape and looking mighty impressive. Next week we add the final layer/third, the blue.
Year six cut their fabric for their simple sewn purse in textiles. Using measurements, we had to carefully cut and fold our fabric, we even tried a little decoration. Next week we will make a button hole and sew on a button before sewing the seams together.
Art Club painted their clay hands for KS1 and monster pots for KS2. these look fabulous and have already gone home.
Blue Peter, two sisters have earned their Blue Peter badges this week and are proudly displayed on the Blue Peter wall of fame within the Create room. Well done Lucinda and Stephanie. If you would like to earn a Blue Peter badge, check out the Blue Peter website for details on what to do.
Curriculum Evening was such a success and very soon i will put together all the things we did in the Create room that evening to make our school Nativity scene. This will be on display in the worship area after next weekend. Thank you so much to my wonderful Art monitors who along with Miss Woodrow , were fantastic ambassadors for the school. Evie, Ruby and Emily, you were fantastic.
Have a wonderful weekend, wrap up warm, its getting cold!
God bless.
