And as quick as a flash, Half Term break is here…
In Art…
Reception had a lovely lesson using all the yellows in creating beautiful Spring flowers in their painting session, we mixed and blended the shades to create truly lovely flowers. These are now on display outside the Create room and they make the corridor so bright and happy.
Year one completed their 3D topic this week by modeling with play dough and Lego. We rolled and shaped the dough into different items and played a game similar to Rapidough. We them worked in teams to create a model from Lego, what a creative bunch we are!
Year two finished their 3D topic by creating special space eggs. After listening to the story of Matilda the Hen, we made the four extra alien chicks that were put in her nest.Strange little egg chicks, ask you children to tell you the story. These sculptures have gone home.
Year three didn’t have art this week as we had a VIP athlete in school , Craig McCann, who with Tony, put us through our paces in a vigorous exercise session. What fun we had and what an inspiration Craig was for us all.
Year four transitioned from their D.T. topic into their 3D topic but building a 3D truck from a net from Purple Mash. I have challenged the children to go on the Art section of Purple Mash and create their own 3D truck. We also completed our evaluations from our tipper trucks.
Year five move onto the Design Technology after half term and all the sessions will be full of Cams and making a moving space toy with a Cam mechanism. This leaves no time for our Mothering Sunday and Easter card making… So I challenged the children to my cards workshop. After a swift demonstration the children had one hour to recreate these special cards. These have been put away for safe keeping until needed.
Year six painted their 3D animal masks, paying special attention to texture, colour blending and realism. These are on display in the Create for now but will be put around school for everyone to admire.
Art Club members have been selected by random picking from the hat and have been announced in assembly today. I look forward to spending these sessions with you after the break. Look on the Art clb page fro more details.
My Art Raffle was won by Daniel in year four, he chose a colouring book from my prize box. More prizes are waiting to be won next half term.
Our Land, Our Schools. The exhibition at Lytham Heritage Centre is now open and houses the most amazing gallery of art from children from the Fylde. I entered fifty three children’s art from our school. Do go along and have a look. it is fantastic and free to visit. Details on the poster below.
Have a fantastic half term break. Rest up as next half term is jam packed!
God Bless
