Good morning year 1! As our English is all about pets this week, I thought I would share a photo of my cats with you. They are called Leo and Luna. You might have been wondering what the Class Tiger has been getting up too…he’s been up to lots of mischief with my furry pals! He is missing you all lots, especially seeing how kind you all are to one another. He has been loving seeing all of your home learning photos, please keep them coming!

Today I would like you to watch the set 2 and set 3 speed sounds, by clicking on the link.

Watch and join in with the song I Have a Pet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWepfJ-8XU0 Repeat the song, this time pausing and saying what noise each pet makes. Draw pictures of the pets (could use a video to copy drawings) e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQBDEW848B0 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8oTyNH0bQk . Write sentences about the pets and the noises they make e.g. I have a bird and it goes tweet. I have a mouse and it goes squeak. Can you describe the pets with adjectives? e.g. I have a small blue bird and it goes tweet. The sentences could form a simple poem. Encourage your child to use their phonic knowledge to spell the words correctly. Extend to add other pets they know and what noise they make, e.g. I have a horse and it goes neigh. Once complete, encourage your child to perform it to an audience, they could even add actions!

Today I would like you to do Summer Term Week 2 Lesson 4 Problem Solving, with your child.  There is a short video for you to watch and discuss together. Please pause the video and give your child time to explain their reasoning to you. Following on from this, there is some questions for your child to answer.
