Phonics

Today I would like you to watch the set 2 and set 3 speed sounds, by clicking on the link.

English

Watch the story The Perfect Pet being read aloud https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDk7rdE9-LY. Pause at 2:05 mins and talk about what they have just heard. What does Henry want? Why? What does he like about dogs? Watch for a second time up to the same point. Draw a dog and label it using their phonics for spelling. Describe what traits it needs and what it might look like. Your child could use what they have heard to help with the labels.

Write some full sentences in the form of an advert using the labels created, e.g. Dog wanted! The dog must have… and be able to … Check full stops and capital letters.

Continue to watch the story being read aloud up to the end of Chapter One (2:56 mins) Discuss - what do you think will happen next? Children to write what they think is going to happen. I think that…

Continue to watch the story being read aloud from (2:56 mins – 5:00 mins) Discuss - How did the duck feel when he had no friends? What is he thinking of doing? What do you think will happen?

Continue to watch Chapter three (5:00 mins to end) and enjoy!

Maths

As you can see on the White Rose Website we have caught up with the learning (due to us having one week off at Easter). For the rest of this week I will be setting some activities based on prior learning. It is an opportunity for the children to revisit what they have already learned and have a good practice - keeping their learning fresh!

Today we are going to be looking at place value (tens and ones). The PDF has details of some games and activities for you to do together.

Have a wonderful day!
