Good morning Year 1, I hope you had a lovely long weekend. I am so pleased you enjoyed story time with me; I will be reading you another story on Friday. I’ve got another exciting week of learning for you and details on an optional writing competition.

Note for Science: If you have filled in your sunflower diary, please add some more pages. You are taking brilliant care of them and some of you have now planted them in your gardens. There will be sunflowers all over St Annes soon!

Reading
Remember to read everyday, just like we do at school. I would love you to read for at least 20 minutes each day, be that a physical book, an ebook on Epic or Accelerated Reader. If your book has an option to quiz on AR or Epic, please remember to do so.

Ask your child what other actions could the bunnies do? E.g. walk, jog, stomp, dance, floss etc. Write a couple more verses to include the new action, e.g. Stomp little bunnies, Stomp, stomp, stomp Stomp, stomp, stomp! Floss little bunnies, Floss, floss, floss etc.
Encourage independent spellings and use of phonics when your child writes. Sing your new song to an audience. This could be an adult, sibling or even soft toys!
