Phonics
It is important that whilst we are not at school, you keep practising those phonic sounds daily. The link should direct you to a youtube channel which will be updated with phonic sessions daily. It would be great if you accessed the set 3 speed sounds session, but some children may wish to access the other sessions too.

English

I have attached a pdf version of the ‘Flat Stanley’ book we have been reading in class. We have so far read up to chapter 4, so re-read the 4 chapters and discuss the main characters with an adult. Can you draw them in your home learning books and find evidence from the story to describe each character?

As you can see, the pdf also contains other Flat Stanley stories. Please feel free to enjoy these in your own time over the coming weeks.

Reading

Enjoy a story or two throughout the day. You may decide to take it in turns with an adult, you reading a little then an adult reading a little. Or you may wish to read by yourself then listen to an adult reading to you before bed!

Maths

Today I would like you to explore Sum Dog. This is an exciting way of practising your maths learning and I know that you are going to love using it. On the ‘How to help your child’ section of the Year 2 page, Mrs Hotchkiss has made a brilliant video showing you how to get started. Today I would like you to log on and play on some of the maths games. Starting tomorrow, I will be setting you maths challenges and these will appear when you log in.

Fractions

Throughout this week, please access the materials below:

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/

This will recap the fraction learning we have done in class and will be great for any children who were off during the last week.

Money

Over the coming weeks, we will be looking at money in maths. Can you find loose change in your house that could be used for daily learning? Do you recognise the coins? What is each coins value? Draw round the coins in your maths home learning books and record their value.

PE

Tune in to The Body coach for ‘PE with Joe’ at 9 o’clock this morning, to get you warmed up for the day ahead. https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

RE

Can you write a prayer, thinking carefully about what or who you would like to pray for at this time. Can you illustrate your prayer?

Enjoy your Monday!
