Year 5 Thursday May 14th Learning From Home

Good Morning Year 5!

I am really enjoying marking your work on Purple Mash. I can also see your IXL scores and your Sumdog activity. I feel like I’m spying but this is what the teachers job is all about I suppose- teaching, setting challenges and seeing how we are all moving our learning forward. Shall we crack on them?

TASK 1 MATHS FRACTIONS CONTINUED!!!

Today we explore how some fractions cannot be simplified and we begin to compare fractions- which is greater than or less than which?

TASK 2 GRAMMAR WARM UP!

Today I would like you to be the teacher. I have uploaded a warm-up powerpoint from Twinkle all about parentheses. I would like you to run the powerpoint and read it with care. This should -nice modal verb Mrs Hotchkiss- reinforce what you already know from last weeks lessons. Now you will need a volunteer this could be a parent (if they are free) or a sibling. Sit them down in front of you and your screen , now pretend you are the teacher and you’re teaching this grammar skill. Frankie you can organise Arthur, Casey and Leo your sorted with one another- take turns, Ryhs and Alice you can get those older sisters organised and Callum Sean- well it may be tricky for you- you may want just one volunteer!!!!!!!

Did you spot my parentheses?

TASK 3 ENGLISH

Now pop onto Purple Mash and complete the Parentheses game/task. It is set in your 2dos!!

TASK 4 PURPLE MASH CODING DRIVING GAME

Well done for revisiting your Purple Mash accounts and catching up a little - no pressure here. Now we have had some very successful and resilient coders. As promised I have set a new challenge today. For those struggling a little I have filmed my work so that you can learn alongside me just like you would do in class.
