Year 5 Thursday May 21st Learning from home

Good Morning Year 5- you have almost made it to the end of this half term! Well done I am so proud of you all! Tomorrow we have some special lessons all about the NHS- our final day before we take a weeks break.

TASK 1 MATHS CONSOLIDATING ADDING AND SUBTRACTING FRACTIONS!

TASK 2 SPELLING TEST

Please complete the spelling test on Sumdog” for words ending in “ent”. Make sure you know them first - I will leave it for a week so you can get the highest score you can.

TASK 3 ENGLISH CREATIVE HEADS ON!!!

More deadly creatures! Today you have a choice! You can make a leaflet all about your the deadly creature you created yesterday or you can make a short film - you will be the narrator following a script you have written describing your deadly creature in action! Choose which option you would like to do. If you want to do both- that’s great.

OPTION ONE_ THE LEAFLET

Read these two extracts. Listen to how the authors use factual formal language to describe the creatures. Using these as a model watch the film. I have set up a new 2do “deadly creature” leaflet- I have set some design challenges in the film- stay focused double check the quality of your writing before handing in.

OPTION 2 FILMED NARRATOR

Watch the film clip below it is very famous. You can hear David Attenborough narrating over the top of the scene. This is scripted. Now imagine your new deadly creature hunting its prey. Write a script in your book (send picture) then using a device record it. I have attached a little film explaining how you can record on your phone and send it to me via email- cool! Some children may want to think outside the box and recreate the scene at home using props etc and film it (Tess).
