Good morning everyone and welcome to sports week!!!!
This week we will be competing against one another in houses!!! How exciting (come on BAMBER) Oh dear- Mrs H! Sorry children I promise not to be bias! One of the things I LOVED about teaching you was PE days. You were focused and determined- you developed into fantastic house teams- encouraging all. Well this week Mrs Gregan has set us daily Sports Day challenges. We may be away from school but we will still complete our sports day!! Crack on with your daily maths and English and then organise your siblings (same house) to smash each event! We are collating results- read Mrs Gregan’s instructions carefully!
Warm up with maths first! You did a wonderful job working through the consolidation lessons last week- we now need to crack on with multiplying!
TASK 1 MATHS - Multiplying proper fractions (over 1)
TASK 2 - ENGLISH READING
I would like to introduce you to Tom. A little boy in lockdown!
TASK 3 - RSC PLAY MAKING FESTIVAL 2020
Dear children and parents, studying Shakespeare is part of the Year 5 curriculum. We were fortunate enough to study two plays this year before we had to stay at home. This summer we should have been taking part in the RSC playmaking festival down in Stratford. Two members of the class would have accompanied me to Stratford to perform the Taming of the Shrew with other children from all over the country. Sadly, this will no longer take place. However in its place, the RSC is celebrating the play making of all its Associate Schoosl through film. We have been asked to prepare part of two speeches from “The Taming of the Shrew”. You will need to listen to my instructions carefully. You will then film yourself, the film needs to be sent to me by a parent with permission in that email for me to send it to the RSC and The Grand Theatre Blackpool for them to use and publish. Films can be too big to send via email so you will need help from your parents to use Wetranfer or Google Drive. I will then forward your work. You have until Thursday night to send your drama piece. I will be sending them on the Friday 19th. You may then appear on the RSC website performing your lines. This task is set for the next four days for you to practice to give you time to organise the sending via email.
I have attached links for you parents to follow for sending the video via Google drive (I have a google account to receive it). I have also attached links for Wetranfer form a computer. I just love the interent if your unsure about anything you can be guaranteed that some lovely person in the world has created a video to help you!!
Now for the drama itself. I have made a little film explain the part of the play we have been given and the two characters. Watch my film and then open the script. It is really important that mum and dad read the Challenge sheet as it explains what this task is all about! Act your hearts out!!!
