TASK 2 - ENGLISH - writing headlines and bylines for newspapers

Today we are going to investigate how headlines in newspapers are written. Headlines use language in a spacial way to grab the attention of the reader and to make them read on. Newspapers (hard copy and digital) are a very important text that help people to stay informed about what is going on in the world right now.

FIRST NEWS- is a children newspaper. The current issue to exploring the rascism protests taking place all over the world. The Journalists who write this paper know their auidence are children so issues are carefully explained. TASK 3 - STEM - can you sail your boat today?

More science and engineering!! I would like you to return to your boat. We have explored capacity of the boat today I would like you to create a sail boat. You will need to fill the bath up just a couple of inches or a paddling pool. Using a straw (rolled paper) can you blow your boat from one end to the other - NO HANDS ALLOWED- how good is your sail? Here is an extra challenge- watch the film below. Play the film form 2:02 minutes to 2:49 minutes - creating an obstacle course of ports. Can your boat carry and sail?

TASK 4 READING

Dear children I was so delighted on Monday before 10 O’Clock Lila had visited ACR tested and smashed 71% of her new reading target. Reading is the most important skill to maintain. We have been applying our reading skills a lot this week in all of the lessons. To help you keep motivated you could read JK Rowlings new novel that she is putting on the internet free every day! The book is called “The Ickabog” - scroll down to find chapter one “King Fred the Fearless” .Or you could subscribe to First News - you will need an adults permission as this isn’t free but it is great if your into factual text! Next week we will be launching into our final novel of the year - “Tom’s Midnight Garden” by Phillipa Pearce- it is a cracking good read!!!
