Good Morning Year 4!
Well we talked a lot yesterday about our families and hobbies and we celebrated the fact that these relationships are blessings! Today we are going to explore one of the exciting learning opportunities you will have in Year 5 - SHAKESPEARE!!!
Our school is a Royal Shakespeare Company Associate school. This means that we work alongside actors and directors from the RSC in Stratford and The Grand Theatre Blackpool exploring the plays of William Shakespeare. Now you know from yesterday that Mrs Hotchkiss has a passion for the theatre so the drama lessons we take part in together are always a highlight of the year for me!!! Now some children may feel a little worried about performing. The lessons are not about performing in front of an audience- they are about performing the play together in class through games and active tasks (no desks in these lessons). The first part of my training with the RSC was all about making the classroom feel safe and fun!!!
Celebrate todays work - take pictures and send to Mrs H:

TASK ONE - WHO WAS SHAKESPEARE?
So the first thing we need to do is find out who Shakespeare was. You will find in your Purple Mash 2do’s a task call Shakespeare FACT FILE. I would like you to find out as much as you can about Shakespeare and complete this Fact File. Below I have created link buttons to different sites. One is a film another is a website watch and read - taking notes as you do. Then complete your Fact-file.
TASK 2 MORE SHAKESPEARE!
Now we know a little more about who he was and what he did let’s have some fun! In Purple Mash I have set a Mash Cam task. Watch the short film to see what you have to do!
TASK 3 - HOPE
We will return to school in September- to be a family again. HOPE (another virtue) grows out of faith and love. The stronger our love and faith the stronger our hope will be. Hope allows us to trust ourselves and those around us with the decisions that will shape our lives. What are your hopes for next year? We are collecting everyone’s hopes today so that we can place them on a display for your return. Pop onto Purple Mash and record your hope with your name. Some of our Key worker children are writing them on leaves for the display just for you!
TASK 4 - MATHS LET’S CRACK ON WITH THOSE CO-ORDINATES
Today I have attached some plotting practice. Remembering to ploy X before Y - Along the corridor and up the stairs. If you are able to printout the sheets have fun there is a lot to plot. If you can’t print out -I have linked you to a plotting game online you can work in the first quadrant and if you are super confident all 4 quadrants!!!
If you have completed all the tasks today and have time to continue with your learning click the optional extra below:
