Year 5 Remote Learning Thursday 14th January

Morning Warm up! READING

This is a little catch up with you and your reading book! Remember we read for 30 mins in school and 30 mins at home. For the children at school this is easy to split into two parts of the day. If you’re at home you have to manage this carefully! Are you reading for one whole hour before bed, or snuggling down in the afternoon after all your work done? Remember you’re able to quiz on your books at home now too.

Furthermore, Mrs Gregan discovered the website z-library too. Here you can download library books for free - I have made a little short film for you to explain how.

LESSON 1 - MATHS REVIEWING MULTIPLES FACTORS, PRIME NUMBERS and SQUARE NUMBERS!

Today we go over the key concepts taught this week. We have to become confident with these terms and concepts so its good to review - bringing the ideas back and forward in our memory!

Lesson 2 - THE HIGHWAYMAN

Let’s us return to Ms Webster who continues to explore the opening of the poem “The Highwayman”. Today she revises SIMPLE COMPOUND (year 2) and COMPLEX sentences (KS 2) with you. You may enjoy this task as it will get you to use your long term memory! Today you will need your art skills! When you have completed the art work send a picture of it to me on your Purple Mash Email! Remember you must have the whole setting included - think carefully about all the language and how the poem describes this setting in detail.

LESSON 3 - RE

Today we are going to read the Beatitudes (the extreme blessings) that Jesus taught us about during his Sermon on the Mount. I have taken photograghs of our Year 5 text book - click on the link below. Here each blessing is explained in context (what it means to us). Now watch the film and listen to the teaching.

LESSON 4 PE

At school Mr Nay will be taking the class outside and at home we are going to join Joe Wicks MBE! For a fun workout! If you prefer you could go for a long walk/bike ride with parents or kick a football around in the back garden - Harvey!!! Photographs please!
