Good morning Year 1. I hope you have a wonderful day of learning today. Below is just a little reminder about reading books. Remember you should be reading every day for at least 20 minutes. Hip-hip hooray to those children who have been using Epic; I can see everything you are reading and I am so impressed!
On the how to help your child page, you will find a link to the Accelerated Reader Portal. Lots of your books at home, will be on accelerated reader. You can type in the name of the book and quiz on these, just like in school.
Oxford Owl has lots of ebooks which are free to read. You can create an Oxford Owl login here: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/user/sign_up.html
Epic is a website and app which has lots of free ebooks. There is free access to reading books between 7am-4pm on weekdays. On here you can find books by Accelerated Reader level (amazing). You may not be able to quiz on these on the Accelerated Reader Portal - but the main thing is that you are reading and growing your brain. I have set up a profile for all of the children. All you have to do it download the getepic app or go to www.getepic.com/students and type in the class code: rpv1820. You can then select your name and start reading! I can also see what you are reading from home.
If your child does not know their reading level, please feel free to email me. I will get back to you as soon I can. e.lane@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk

I have removed the table to make the website more user friendly. If you need to check which videos are suitably challenging, you can find the table on the how to help your child page.

Children I am going to give you today and tomorrow to create your Monster Posters . I think it would be a good idea to write your poster today and then spend tomorrow’s lesson, editing your poster. I will have a look at your posters on Friday morning, so you have got all of today and tomorrow to complete them. I can’t wait to see them year 1!
Have a brilliant day year 1! See you tomorrow.
Big smiles,
Miss Lane
