Good morning Year 6. Welcome to our final week of learning this half term!
Zoom Help Desk - this is back in operation on Wednesday. Please bear in mind if you have something that you want me to go over or to talk about this week. Email me to book in!
Here is our weekly overview and our timetable for today.
‘Kindness is a gift that everyone can afford to give.’
For the next two weeks, I want us all to think about kindness and how we can make each other smile. I will be setting you all some small challenges that I know will have a big impact. Keep an eye on your emails and on our daily blog, but start thinking kind. What can we do to be kind? What small acts of kindness will brighten up someone’s day?
I have sent you an email with your next act of kindness. Can you check it and respond?
Please continue to devote some time to down time this week…keep up the non screen activities and send me some photos.
English - Clockwork Review
Task 1 - Clockwork Book Review. I have set you a specific book review to complete for Clockwork (different to the reviews on the books that you are reading at home). Please complete in detail. There is so much information, events and details in this book. Show me exactly what you thought of this brilliant book!
Task 2 - Did Karl deserve to die the way he did? Contribute to the class blog explaining your reason.
Spelling
Here are your spellings for this week. Same process as last week:
Monday - spellings released
Wednesday - dictation task
Friday - spelling quiz.
MATHS - BODMAS
This is one of my favourite areas of maths, and one that you did really well with in school. We will be combining our understanding of BODMAS with fractions later on in the week.
Rockstars for 10 minutes.
Fluency - see Purple Mash
BODMAS tasks within the lesson
Science - The Human Body - The Skeleton
The Human body is a fascinating thing - but what is the job of the skeleton?
You will have completed a unit of work on the Skeleton earlier on in your school life, let’s now pick it up as Year 6 students and really challenge ourselves with our thinking.
Video 1 - The functions of a skeleton lesson
Video 2 - How to access my PADLET of resources
Visit Wooclap to answer the question…
Here is my starting attempt at making myself into a skeleton. I need a lot more detail on this and I want the bone work to be really accurate.
Use the labelled diagram of the skeleton in my resource Padlet to really add detail to your image.
I am going to continue working on mine. I will post the final piece when I have finished.
PE Challenge - Home Court
This is a game of reaction and speed. Follow my video to see me take part and then show you how to set it up on your Apple devices.
Let me see your videos (you can download them and save them to your devices after you have had a go) and tell me your scores.
Can you beat me? Have a go this week and let me know how you get on.
