Wow, what a week! But as we always do here at Our lady’s, we have risen to the occasion and taken the week’s challenges face on and together as a community have problem solved to try to help everyone.
In Art…
I have set two different sets of Art for each year group and will do whilst in Lockdown as I appreciate that many homes would not have the resources and equipment to hand, but if you do, please feel free to do the school activity instead or as well as the Remote learning. Also if you are at school and you like the Remote learning activity, please feel free to have a go, remember to send me your photos, so I can celebrate with you.
Reception… For the first time this school year I have set Reception a weekly task (this can be accessed on the’ Art and DT’ page under the ‘Reception Art’ button. I can’t wait to get to know you all over these next few weeks.
Year One… We didn’t get to do any school learning this week as our lesson is on a Tuesday and all the children were off on Tuesday as we planned for Lockdown but Remote Learning is up, as of yet I haven’t received anything from year one but I hope I will over the weekend. It’s a lovely building activity, so do go and have a look.
Year Two… School Learners got to do some dip dying with fabric dye and white fabric, we folded the material in different ways and dipped then in Primary coloured dyes. Wow, what fun we had, Michael even said it was almost as good as Christmas day. Remote Learners were asked to find anything at home they could make a sculpture with. Rex and Dominic made fantastic structures, one from bricks to the same height as him and one was wrestling characters from the bottom of the stairs to the top, very impressive.
Year Three… School Learners listened to the story of the Coach Trip, and had to respond by printing with different items how they thought the story would look, we then showed our partners and retold the story through our printing. Remote Learners Have been set the challenge to draw a family portrait, Millie has also sent in a lovely picture she has made at home of a Polar bear, this made me smile.
Year Four… School Learners started their 3D topic by learning about shoes, what were they made from, what was their purpose, we drew some from different angles and made a template pattern of our feet. This is because we will be making some simple slip om slippers over the next few weeks. Remote Learners were also asked to draw shoes, to find some shoes at home and really look at all the detail. This is set for today and I am really looking forward to seeing what shoes you chose and how much detail toy have included in your drawings.
Year Five… school Learners have started their 3D topic by learning how to draw the human body in proportion and size, we drew what we thought was a body and discussed what was wrong, such as arms come from the shoulders not the waist etc. We are going to use this knowledge to make a sculpture inspired by artist Alberto Giacometti. Remote Learners were asked to also draw the human body and some fantastic pictures have come through, Faye even managed to send me an emoji she made of me.
Year Six… School Learners recapped on drawing the human body and we made a moveable card mannequin to help us. We put these into positions and drew them. This is in preparation for our clay statues next week inspired by the artist Henry Moore. Remote Learners were also asked to recap on their human body drawing, as this is set for today, I look forward to seeing how you do.
Remember to email me your work at r.curtis@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk I look forward to seeing your artwork and I always answer back, but please be patient as in-school learning is still taking place and I may not be able to answer straight away.
Stay safe
God Bless
