Art News… Week 6
With only a few days left of this half term, we are filling as much as we can into every day. The school is a hive of activity, with happy, smiling faces in every classroom.
In Art…
Reception used specail finger brushes to paint Autumn leaves in lovely shades of red, orange and browns. These are now displayed proudly in the hall for all to see.
Year one watched a film of the lovely book Hairy Maclary of Donaldson’s Dairy by Lynly Dodd. We discussed all the different types of dogs and what their fur was like, we then drew these textures in our books.
Year two came face to face with a cuddly teddy bear when they arrived for their art lesson. Observational drawing was the task in hand, could we draw what we saw? This was so tricky and a skill I come back to many times throughout the year and every year. The children loved drawing their fluffy friends and were proud of the results, great job year two.
Year three took a paer patten and glued it in their sketch books, could they continue ther patterns in both drawing and colour? Yes they could, everyone tried their best and made beautiful art work.
Year four looked at the work by Britsih artist John Brunsdon and how he created his land an seascapes. We drew some of our own in this style and filled it with beautiful markings.
Year five learned about negative drawing and created two stunning pictures in this style. One of a vase of flowers and one of a pencil pot.
Year six finished their drawing topic off with a real verses fantasy drawing session. After cutting our photo in half across the face below the eyes, could we make on half as realistic as possible, using our shading and tone skills and the other half into a strange cartoon being?
Art club for group one came to an end this week as they have completed their five weeks. They finished on a high though as we decorated our own mini bird house and took these home on Tuesday. I will be picking more children from the hat this week and I’ll tell the children on Tuesday ready for them to start on the first Tuesday back after the half term break. I’m very excited to see who I’ll be sharing Art Club with next.
This will be my last weekly blog until after the half term break as we only have two days next week. Have a super break, stay safe and I’ll see you all in November.
Please note that all children will need their art tshirt for after half term, I know some children still haven’t brought theirs in. They are needed to protect your clothing as the paints etc can stain. An old adult tshirt is best as it is big and covers everything, shirts are not so good as some children can’t do the buttons. Many thanks.
God Bless
