Year 5 home learning to be handed in on Friday October 15th

READING

Please read every night - it will be good to chat to you about your child’s reading data (collected this half term) when we meet on Thursday 21st October. Reading a book that is well pitched and maintaining a good reading routine is essential. Please chat to your child about the books they have read this half term.

Please take the opportunity to log into Accelerated reader and have a look yourself. I have created a button here that links you to our Year 5 “how to help page” - here guides for ACR can be found.

MATHS

This week we have been exploring decimal models and adding and subtracting tenths. The children have a maths sheet in their homework book to complete. Once this is complete go back to IXL YEAR 4 and complete FF19 - ordering tenths.

SPELLING

Tricky words! Words ending in ible. I have attached a PDF with the words on for you to print out and learn or copy and learn. I have an extra challenge too! Can you write a funny paragraph using at least 5 of the spellings to show you understand the meaning.

HISTORY

We have been interpreting artefacts this week particularly Greek vases - which showed in detail how life was so long ago. The children will be recreating their own vases in class before the end of term. The children are often great at getting the detail of the figures right but struggle with the intricate patterns that appear on these vases. The children have a blank vases glued in their homework book - I would like them to RESEARCH the patterns on the vases and then decorate this vase intricately - like the one in the picture here.
