Art News… Week 2
It is remarkable how quickly we adapt, the children have seamlessly slipped back into school life after the break and are deeply emersed in their education. They truly are a credit to us all.
In Art…
Reception had to colour pictures in their real colours, could an apple be blue, why not, what colour could it be? Great discussion within the groups had children reasoning whay theings were the colour they are. Group two will complete this task next week.
Year one used items from around the Create room to make Richard Long inspired cirles, we work on our own and in pars to create wonderful cirles. I then challenged the children to make a picture using only the items given, we had football matches, cats and dogs even a Mrs Curtis with pink hair. Super fun and many children said they will do this at home with lego and toys.
Year two had a masterclass in playing a Didgeridoo! Lots of fabulous noise errupted from the Create room as we tooted and raspberried into our life sized tubes. We then had to decorate them, these were all taller than the children and they were very excited to create Aboriginal artwork around the tubes.
Year three used their knowledge of Paul Klee from last week to create beautiful collaged Christmas cards. These will be packed away intil the last week of term.
Year four overpainted their recycled papers from last week. Using a thin brush and steady hand, they painted repeated shapes over the sufaces. We were drawing in paint. These have now gone home. ( still a few children without their Art tshirts, these are needed to keep your uniform clean while we have messy art ).
Year five added the YELLOW first third to their Reduction Block Prints. We carved only what we had drawn in yellow into our press print foam pads, covered them in yello paint and rolled them to transfer the markings. Next week we add the red third.
Year six took the beautiful dyed fabric squares created last week, cut them to the correct size and mounted them onto black card. Using the sketches from last week of Norman Foster’s buildings and bridges, we created out own artwork based on them in black marker pen. These look stunning and will go on display soon.
Group two in Art Club had their second session and turned themselves into superheroes. They are all getting to know eachother and the conversation is flowing, as is the laughter.
My Pom Pom Queen has been hard at work again as this morning, Stephanie in year five came armed with more pom poms to decorate the ceiling of the Create room. The ceiling is all her work with about 20 colourful balls of wool. I am sure there will be more over the coming months.
Have a wonderful weekend whatever you are doing, stay safe.
God bless.
