Art News… Week Three
The weeks are flying by as we are now deep into our topics, enjoying the use of the school field and the feeling that our lives are slowly returning to some sort of normal.
In Art…
Classes, year 1,2,4,5 and 6 all took part in the national competition set by Royal Mail this week. We were invited to create a stamp with who we think are the Covid Pandemic Heroes. We were very excited to learn that the winners will have their stamp made into actual postage stamps and will be on letters and parcels dropping onto door mats everywhere. Also we could in for a chance of winning cash and vouchers for the winning families and school alike. We thought about who were our heroes, Captain Tom, the NHS doctors and nurses, the vaccination roll out, care home workers, delivery drivers, fast food and takeaway staff, teachers, the children, parents, grandparents, cleaners, supermarket staff, the government, the scientists, news reporters and television sports commentary and the police, the list went on! We used either water colour paints, felt-tips, pencil crayons or pastels to create our best work. Year three will do these on our next session and Reception are making theirs next week. I will post these in a couple of weeks time and keep my fingers crossed. If you would rather your child was not entered please contact me by email.
Year three printed with foam press print pads and fabric paint onto the front of their T-shirts in their Textiles lesson, it was fun to create some wearable art. We will be drawing on the back in two weeks with special fabric pens.
The header photo this week is the amazing POP ART self portraits created by year six, these are on display in the Create room and are getting a lot of attention from everyone who sees it.
Do take a look at the Home Gallery as more children are sending works of art from home. This week sees a year four artist slowly but surely covering the ceiling in the Create room with colourful pom poms. These look amazing as do all the wonderful creativity our young artists enjoy making.
Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend, that extra day will make all the difference, here’s hoping for some sunshine.
Stay safe
God bless
