Art News… Week 4.
Another fantastic week at Our Ladys. The excitement of being able to mix again with other classes has been the hot topic this week, as from Thursday all classes could share their playtime with the other classes also on break. Mixed football and imaginitive games have been played across the groups and it’s a little bit of normal once more.
In Art…
Reception love painting, so I challenged them to paint some beautiful spring flowers. These look lovely and will decorate around the Create room door (coridoor side) for all to see.
Year one are thoroughly enjoying their 3D topic and getting their hands on real clay. We are getting really good with our hands now as we roll, squeeze, pinch and smooth the clay. This week we learned about two specail St Annes beach pebbles, Nancy and Wilfred, do ask about the story.
Year two created their relief block pads ready for printing next week. We used card, elastic bands, string, match sticks and foam to make our different pads.
Year three looked at many different animal skins and furs, drawing the different patterns. After choosing our favourite, we drew it larger and chose our colour scheme (realistic or astract) ready for next week’s printing activity.
Year four were patient and resilent as we continued with our sewing practise. Many children have never sewn before and this is proving difficult. I have sent home with the children who don’t have sewing equiptment a little envelope with everything they need to practise, even a plaster for those oops moments. This is being set as homework, please do help your child thread a needle, tie a knot, pin fabric together, over stitch and running stitch. We start making our own money container next week.
Year five finished their Matisse and Derian inspired painting of a chair, using bold and bright colours, blending colours into each other and adding a contrasting background. Some have been put on display and some have already come home.
Year six have added the modifications to their 3D Rainforest Animal Masks, having planned first in their books. Using newspaper and card, they stuck on their modifications and Brown Gummed Papered the who mask for the last time. Next we will paint it white and practise our painting techniques.
Art Club enjoyed their third week by painting thier own mask, to look like a superhero. Having only been given the primary colours, they had to mix to find more. These looked great and have gone home.
Have a look in the Art Gallery/Art Club page where you wil see all the home art that children want to proudly show you. If you have been creative at home, painting, drawing, cooking, lego making etc and you would like to show it off, send me a photo or bring it to school to show me and I’ll add it to the Home Gallery for all to see.
Have a wonderful weekend, sta safe.
God Bless
Mrs Curtis
