Art news… Week 2
What a week! A week jam packed full of exciting learning and a World Book Day thrown in too! Everyone looked super as their chosen book character, I even found some of my Hermione Granger sisters in year five.
In Art…
Reception were super excited to come in small groups to see and work in the Create room. They didn’t know we had a special room dedicated to Art and had never seen it. After a good look around and asking questions we did some colour investigating, what would happen if we mixed two primary colours? This was messy fun and everyone is keen to visit the Create room again.
Year one made some very special cards for later in the month. We also drew ourselves as our book character and spoke about why we chose the characters we did.
Year two practised their brush control in their painting lesson and how to use the brush to draw with paint. Everyone was so focused and tried so hard, I think I have some talented young artists in year two!
Year three continued with their colour shades. Choosing a secondary colour, we added white bit by bit to create many shades and then black dot by dot to darken the shades. We made a beautiful painting showcasing our new knowledge.
Year four finished their D.T. topic on money containers and evaluated them. What went well, what was tricky, what would yould change and did they hold momey? To test this we had chocolate coins (Thank you Miss Woodrow for the kind donation of the chocolate coins). Each purse held a coin and I shook the purse to see if it stayed inside, if it did we got to eat the coin. I am so proud to say, everyone’s purse was a success, we all enjoyed a chocolate coin to celebrate. The Purses are now on display in the Create room and will come home before Easter.
Year five designed their moving toy in Cams D.T. We recapped about how a cam opperates and what it makes the moving part of our toy do. We also had some World Book Day fun , talked about our character choices and created some artwork involving our character.
Year six scaled up their Patrick Heron Coastlines this week and created a large poster style painting. Taking care with our colour mixing and blending, some done on the painting itself. These look amazing and will come home when dry.
Art Club met for their second session and made themselves into superheroes. We chatted about what super powers we would have and what our hero name would be, I would of course be Art Girl.
Have a wonderful weekend, Stay safe.
God Bless
