Here we are at the end of our term. The children have shone depicting the Easter story and have delivered it with such empathy and passion. It has also been wonderful to welcome parents back to these performances, a little bit of normal is returning.
In Art…
Reception made little pinch pots/egg cups from clay. Please place these somewhere warm for a couple of days so the clay can dry out. Unfortunately this week will be my last in Reception for some time as after Easter I will be working with year six on Fridays, but I hope that during the last few weeks of the summer term I can pop back for a few one off sessions.
Year one looked at the artist jasper Johns and his painting ‘0 thru 9’. We then used the primary colours and white to mix secondary colours and lighten them to create shades and fill our own 0 thru 9 painting.
Year two watched a video of ‘The Quangle Wangle’s Hat’ by Edvard Leer. We then chose a scene from the story and painted it in watercolours.
Year three had whole class art due to their fabulous assembly. We learned new painting techniques, Tonking and Sgrafitto. This was great fun and after a practise we created a sea/sky scape in these styles.
Year four had a shortened session due to their wonderful assembly. We looked at our tie dye t shirts and we were very pleased with them, we discussed the care that needs to go with these and showed them off by modelling on the cat walk. Miss Woodrow has filmed and put together a fantastic short film of the children strutting their stuff in their t shirts, there is also a couple of grown ups joining in, can you guess who? Nip over to the year four’s class blog to watch and enjoy year four’s hard work.
Year five had a shortened session due to their amazing assembly . We evaluated our Moving Toy operated by a CAM mechanism. These have now gone home.
Year six had whole class art due to the early finish on Friday. We used watercolours to finish our Pop art word pictures and those who finished could choose between my art extensions.
Please check your children’s bag this holiday for Easter cards and all the information you need for your child’s Food Tech lessons coming up after the break. Year two, we start with you (group 1) on Tuesday 19th April, don’t forget your ingredients, and apron, tea towel and containers to take home. All info will also be put on the ART class pages over the holidays for you if your booklet goes astray. I can’t wait to get cooking with you all.
Have a wonderful break. Stay safe. Happy Easter.
God Bless
Mrs Curtis
