It was lovely to speak to many of you this week about your child’s progress and achievements so far this year, the next set of Parent’s appointment are next Wednesday - set your reminders!
On Monday the children wowed Mrs Harrison with their dance moves in Enrichment, they partnered up and learnt how to Waltz!
Our Class Worship was led by Albert, Fletcher and Lettie, they read The Good Shepherd and chose the hymn, All Glory Lord and Honor, for us to sing together. Thank you for leading our class worship, you will be our prayer monitors until next week. Next week’s class worship will be lead by Anna, Emilia and Hugo.
The children have done an amazing job this week, painting and making circuits to give their Iron Men models light up eyes - they couldn’t wait to bring them home to show you!
In Maths, we have continued looking at non unit fractions - putting them on a number line, looking at fractions that are equivalent to a whole and adding unit fraction to make non unit fractions.
In English we have gathered information on Hadrian’s Wall and made quizzes with the information we have gathered on purple mash. In groups we will be looked at the features of trifold leaflets…we’re nearly ready to write our own.
In History the children have learned about Boudica and her rebellion against the Roman army. The children drew Boudica based on historical interpretations of her and discussed how Roman accounts of her in the history books, may not reflect her true bravery and strength. They then wrote a powerful speech, empowering her Celtic tribe to fight with her!
In RE we have put all our focus into understanding the last supper. We have been considering the thoughts and feelings of the disciples, when they were sat around the table with Jesus for the last time. This deeper understanding will help us next week as we begin rehearsing for our Easter assembly. The children are desperate to get started!
The children continued working on their Tennis skills in PE and played team games to practise controlling the ball with their tennis rackets.
Swimming - Next week (Tuesday 19th March) will be our last swimming lesson. I am so proud of the progress the children have made. We are the first group of children at school to start our swimming lessons in year 3 and every week the swimming teachers comment and say what a delight your children are to teach.
Blue Peter Badge Application - Year 3 love to read!! So, as a class we will be applying for our very own Blue Pater badges for reading. Today the children will be bringing home an application for that must be filled in by a parent or guardian. To be awarded a badge the children need to write about a book they have read and say why they have enjoyed it, draw a picture from the book and name other books and authors they have enjoyed - we will do this in school. I am aiming to send the applications all together over Easter - this gives you a little bit of time to fill in and return the form.
Certificates
Emilia- Emilia you are focused and ready to learn every lesson and I want you to know this doesn’t go unnoticed. You make a conscious effort to make sure you have all the equipment you need to get the best from every learning opportunity. You are a great role model for your friends and I am very proud of you.
Myles - I can really tell you’re enjoying learning about The Roman’s in our English and History lessons. Your knowledge and the questions you ask to deepen your understanding are very impressive. You would be perfect for the Roman Investigators Job we’ve been talking about! Keep it up Myles!

Blue Peter Badge Applications - Please fill in and return before Easter break.
Polite Reminder - We are a ‘nut free’ school - this includes packed lunches, a number of children have had nutella sandwiches this week, not only an unhealthy choice but this also goes against our ‘nut free’ policy that is in place to protect children in our school who have severe allergies.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Naylor, Miss Slater and Mrs Ely
