Year3 Weekly Blog Friday 5th April

Worship

This week our class worship was led by Dexter, Henry O, Sasha, Halle and Jack , they read a story about Jesus going missing when he made the pilgrimage to Nazareth with his family when he was just 12 years old. We listened to the children’s personal prayers and they have been our prayer leaders this week.

On Friday we went to Mass as part of our journey Lenten journey towards Easter, Father Peter and members of the Parish commented on how well behaved the children were - Well Done Year 3, we’re so proud of you. During Mass Father Peter spoke about our Lenten journeys and how it is an opportunity to become closer to God, we have spent lots of time in class preparing for Easter and reflecting on our journey.

Our learning this week…

English - We’ve started putting together our draft leaflets, we’ve decided what our subheading will be and started to write paragraphs about our chosen topics. Once we’ve edited our drafts, we will be making our leaflets on Purple mash using a desktop publishing program.

Computing - This week we have look at how we can edit text, we have learnt how to change the font, size colour and style of text. This will put us in good stead for making our Roman leaflets.

Maths - We’ve learnt lots of new vocabulary in our maths lessons this week - we have been identifying parallel and perpendicular lines in polygons. We’ve decomposed polygon to make new shapes and described them using their properties. We had great fun using geo- strips to make shapes and we’ve drawn shapes on isometric paper. It’s been a busy maths week!

Spelling - Our spelling focus this week is words with ‘sure’ ending. Please see homework books for tasks.

Easter Assembly - We’ve spent time practising our Easter worship in the hall, we are so impressed with how well the children have learnt their lines. Please encourage your children to keep practising their lines focusing on speaking loudly, clearly and not too fast. Our Easter assembly will be on Tuesday 8th April, please join us in the hall from 9am - You can find more information on Mrs Gregan’s blog.

Enrichment - Dance, dance, dance! On Monday afternoon the children spent time with Mrs Harrison learning to dance. I’m sure they will be excited to share their new moves with you over the weekend!
Our Easter assembly will be on Tuesday 8th April, please join us in the hall from 9am.
