Dear parents - this is the final homework for this term. Thank you for all your wonderful support. It has been a pleasure to see how much help the children have received for their key skills in reading, spelling, handwriting and number. Thank you too for helping with the learning of lines and songs - we simply couldn’t do it all without you!
READING
Please continue to read this week. The children have become super independant now with their quizzing. Some children are yet to reach their half termly target. They know who they are and it would be great to see these children give it their all during these final two weeks.
HANDWRITING
Please watch the video this week. I share a game to help with the writing of d and b. I also explain the difference between drawing letters and writing them. Finally I introduce dictation - this is something we will be doing a great deal more of next term. I dictate words with d and b in. you may need to pause the video after each word.
SPELLING
We have been learning how to make single nouns plural. All the nouns we looked at ended in y. So we learnt that we have to “take off the y and add ies”. I have placed a link below for you to go to the “spin the wheel” website. I have also posted an image of the words you could place on the wheel. Type these into the wheel and ask your child to read the word single - say it single then plural and write it as a plural - dropping the y and adding ies.
NUMBER BONDS TO TEN
Most of the class are absolutely brilliant at identifying number bonds to ten. We are now bridging through tens boundaries in class. Those children who are not sure struggle with cognitive overload. Equally, we are splitting other numbers so we can make a number bond to ten. To help with this fluency can you play “Hit the button” - the three games indicated below:
