Magic moments

RE

This week in RE we have been busy bee’s! We looked again at our common home and as a whole class we made up our very own class prayer to thank god for our beautiful world and for all the grown ups that help us. Each table then came up with another prayer as a group and each and every prayer made was fantastic and unique.

We looked at St Vincent De Paul and how he made his mission his life’s work and that this is still continuing today. A question for home: How can we be more like St Vincent De Paul?

Finally, we celebrated at Church this morning with Bishop Paul who then came into school to see each year group. We spent the day celebrating Our Lady and together we made up a poem using adjectives to describe her. We then made a stained glass window each.

English

This week in English we began looking at the question mark, when we use it and where it goes in our sentence. We began thinking of who, what, where, how and when questions that we would ask Evil Pea. We then read some more of our story. The children came up with some actions to retell the problem within our story.

Maths

In maths this week we have been been subitising! The children remember what this meant from reception and were able to use this knowledge to help with their tasks. It has been a very practical week and the children have focused fantastically.

History

In History we began learning more about King Charles and all the work he put in before he became King. We read his story and found out all about his life from when he was born all the way up until he became King at 73.

Going deeper.

For our HRSE session this week we have been learning about our private parts, where they are on a girl and a boy and that we are in charge of our own bodies. We learnt that no one is allowed to look at or touch our body if we say no, and that only trusted adults would be able to do this.

My Happy Mind was all about the HAP team, how it helps us to be at our best. We learnt what happens to our brains when we are happy and when we are sad. Challenge time - Can you remember which parts of your brain go to sleep when you are feeling sad, stressed or worried? We have selected our My Happy Mind Hero for this week and this is Poppy! Poppy was in charge of happiness this week and helped us all to calm down using happy breathing.

A conversation starter - what things could you do to help your body if you are feeling sad or worried?

Lets celebrate!

Well done to our certificate winners this week, we have had a focused learner in Jaxon and a brave learner in Kian.
