Magic moments

RE

Our class liturgy this week was a lovely session, two children chose some lovely items out of our box and formed discussions around them, these items were a book of Jesus’ miracles and some holy water. We then sang my lighthouse together.

We discussed the crucifixion of Jesus in RE this week, we spoke about the events that happened before and what came next. We recapped the key events the crucifixion and the resurrection. The children were then able to successfully recall the correct order of events independently and thought of some interesting “I wonder why” questions surrounding this event.

English and Maths

We have been finding out lots of things about Peter Rabbit this week, we thought of some questions that we would ask him and worked in groups to do some research and find the answers together!

In Maths we have continued looking at whole and part numbers. We have been putting this into practise by filling in the missing parts of part-whole models independently. When we did it one way, we found another way to do this too. We used cubes to help us.

Science and Geography

In Science this week we recapped all the vocabulary we learnt about the different materials and we will spend next week conducting an experiment! We will have some different materials and we will find out which materials are waterproof and which are absorbent.
Conversation starter: Can you remember what the words waterproof and absorbent mean?

We looked at the North and South Poles this week and found out lots of interesting facts! We know that they are the furthest places from the equator which means that they are the coldest places. We learnt which animals lived there, which one is at the top and which is at the bottom.
Conversation starter: Which place is in the Arctic polar zone? Which one is in the Antarctic polar zone?

Going deeper…

My happy mind - We finished our relate topic this week. We looked at our differences and how these are a good thing! We discussed thinking about how other people might feel before we act and used the word consider. We can think about other peoples feelings by remembering to stop, think and consider.
Conversation starter: Can you remember a time when you really got along with a friend? What did it feel like?

People we love planters

The children had a lovely morning outside creating their people we love planters with Greg from Lytham Hall.
