Year 2 Weekly Blog Friday 24th January "in order to see birds you have to become part of the silence"

This week we explored temptation. We recognised that we feel temptation all the time and we even give into it. We related this back to Jesus’ temptation in the desert. He too felt these feelings - he was strong, prayed and kept his faith. What we know is that even when we do give into temptation and hurt ourselves and others God is there to catch us and forgive us! We also learned about individual guardian angels there at our side always.

Today we began to reflect on the Jubilee year, opening our hearts in 2025. This will be such a special year - a year full of forgiveness and pilgrimage. As a Catholic it is such a special time - but one so rare we need to embrace it!

GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION

Watch this film together explaining what a Jubilee year is - it will feel you with hope! Work out how old you will be when the next Jubilee comes

MAGIC MOMENTS OF LEARNING

We’ve been writing - such a lot of writing all about owls! This week Mrs Hotchkiss modelled and shared her ideas next week we’ll be independently writing all about Penguins! In maths we’ve been noticing patterns and using this to complete “intelligent practice” tasks for both addition and subtraction - not easy! Unfortunately, the weather has spoiled our bird counting plans - although we did do our best in the pouring rain on Thursday afternoon. Half of us counted, while the other half made bird feeders. We discovered that our skies and school garden is lacking small birds! We have seagulls, crows, pigeons and magpies - we saw one sparrow! In computing we continued to create branching databases and Miss Bassett is thoroughly enjoying the PE especially dance - where the story of the BFG is coming alive! In Geography we arrived in Kenya. We loved our Africa mapwork and we now know that there are 54 countries. We continued to build an “attitude to gratitude” as we studied My Happy Mind on Friday when the lovely Mrs Mather and Mrs Ely joined Miss Slater for the day!
