Year 2 Weekly Blog - end of term Friday 11th April " He is not here; He has risen,!" Matt 28

Thank you for attending our Easter assembly on Monday. It was a joy to share this special event with you. The children have loved watching all the assemblies - we’ve studied each part of the Easter story and the children felt able to really make sense of the different beautiful depictions. On Thursday, back in class, we explored what actually happens in church on Good Friday and at the Easter Vigil. The children loved the idea of bowing to the cross and sitting in a dark church as the paschal candle arrives. I hope you are able to join the parish masses to experience this with family and parish friends. Throughout Lent we have added images to our classroom display - building up picture related to Jesus’ final week. On the very last day we created butterflies and flowers - signs of spring and new life - these will be waiting for us when we return!

GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION

We have listened to and acted out the stations of the cross. Why not visit church- when it is quiet - walk through the stations together.

MAGICAL MOMENTS OF LEARNING

We have focused a great detail of learning this week around the Easter story. The children have reflected on Jesus’ forgiveness and love. Alongside this, we spent Tuesday raising money for our chosen charities. I hope you enjoyed the pictures posted earlier this week! We’ve also managed to meet up with our Jewish Faith friend- who taught us all about the PASSOVER - linking this back to the Last Supper. Mrs Couch came in for a surprise visit to show us how Dan and Angel, our ducks, were getting on- magic! Finally, we managed to finish our investigations in science - this week testing to see if materials were waterproof or not. Friday was a riotous day - the chocolate egg raffle was great fun!!

LET’S CELEBRATE

This week the children have voted for the Virtue Star and the certificate!

The Virtue Star is TOBY - well done. Your class mates said you were kind and caring and loved our world!

The certificate went to RHYS - Your class knew that you were “always ready”

“Always kind “and you were “fantastic in our assembly too!”
