What a wonderful first week I have had with Year 1! The children have amazed me with their enthusiasm and genuine love for learning; we have all been growing our brains this week! They have also enjoyed sharing something that is special about them and I have heard lots of wonderful stories about special families, new siblings, cheeky pets and impressive talents! I am very excited to be joining year 1 on their learning journey and feel blessed to be part of such a wonderful school family.
What have we been learning this week?
In Maths the children have wowed me with their Mathematical understanding. We have been exploring the different ways we can order numbers and groups of objects and we have been comparing numbers using the symbols for ‘greater than’, ‘less than’ and ‘equal to’.
In English we have drawn a story map to help us learn the story of Where the Wild Things are. We thought of different actions to help us remember the story and used our amazing story telling voices to add expression. I wonder if you can tell the story at home?
Hip-Hip-Hooray!
