‘Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much!’

This week we received some wonderful news from the Fylde Rangers… the posters that Reception made for our sponsored event for CAFOD are now proudly displayed around St Annes!

The Fylde Rangers were so impressed, they have used them as part of their ‘Keep St Annes Clean’ campaign that will be running throughout the summer. Reception, are so passionate about looking after their local environment and we couldn’t be prouder that their work is going to inspire others to do the same. They were thrilled to hear about the posters and the positive impact they will have.

Reception, we would love know if you have spotted our posters around St Annes, maybe you could take a picture and we can share these in school!

(Pictures can be emailed to s.hartley@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk)
The posters are displayed in the electronic billboards, one at the entrance to the beach next to the pier and the other is by the RNLI shop on Lytham Green).

What have we been learning this week?

Maths: This week we have really grown our brains by thinking about number bonds to ten. We explored how numbers to ten can be made of two parts and practised represented these parts (e.g. 7 and 3, 6 and 4) in a variety of ways using dice frames and ten frames.

RE: This week we have continued to reflect on Jesus’s resurrections and heard the story of Jesus appearing to his disciples. We enjoyed acting out parts of the story and using great expressions to think about how the disciples felt when Jesus appeared to them.

Understanding the World: It’s been the perfect week for lots of water play this week and it have certainly kept us cool! We have used a variety of different tools and containers to transport water which has also been great for our fine motor skills too. This week we heard about Claire Cashmore who is a Paralympic swimming champion and the author of the children’s book ‘Splash’. In this book she tells her own story about facing her fears of water, dreaming big and chasing those dreams with determination and courage. Reception listened intently and were inspired by her story.

Let’s Celebrate!

Focused Cooper Crab - Olivia He
Olivia, it’s always so wonderful to see and hear how much you love stories; and you often seek out opportunities to find a cosy corner in the classroom to share these stories with your teachers and friends! Your always so focused during phonics and each week you are becoming a more confident reader. With this brilliant focus, you can now read some words in these stories independently and the pride and excitement on your face is a joy to see!
Well done Olivia!

Brave Tommy Turtle - Seamus
Seamus, during drawing club this week you thought of your own brilliant sentence to describe the Night Pirates ship. When you checked your work and spotted a mistake you didn’t give up you said “oh I know!”. You were a brave Tommy turtle and tried again without needing any help; it was wonderful to see your face light up with pride when you fixed it, checked again and read your sentence out loud. Continue to be a brave learning Seamus, this is how we grow.
Well done Seamus!

Butterfly Virtue Award: Attentive - Oscar
Oscar, you are such a kind and caring member of our class and are always attentive to the feelings of others. You show great care and empathy towards your peers offering your help and kindness. Thank you for being such a wonderful member of our class and for always thinking of others.
Well done Oscar!
