This week, in worship we have been thinking about Jesus as our teacher. We have also thought about how we can all be teachers and role models by following Jesus’ way. Children came up with the idea of spotting ‘the light within’ each other and telling the class when someone is a role model or teacher to others. We have been collecting names on the board.
In Shakespeare this week, children have impressed me with their reading of complete Shakespeare scenes and their excellent understanding and interpretation of what is going on! We have had Romeo and Juliet for the famous balcony scene, the tragic murders of Mercutio and Tybalt, the banishment of Romeo and the tragic deaths of the lovers at the end of the play. We have been picking out key themes from the story, such as revenge, romance, rivalry and holding grudges, leading to the final message that love needs to overcome hatred. Children produced some super descriptive writing based on the key scenes.
In our History we solved a mystery - of the empty grave found at Sutton Hoo. We used the Anglo-Saxon artefacts found there to discover who the owner must have been. In RE we have been reflecting on heaven. Children asked so many interesting questions, such as ‘How old is heaven?’ ‘Does everyone have a different vision of heaven,’ and ‘Is heaven over Jerusalem?’
In French, we have found out about different French festivals and discovered what months they were in. In Maths, we are now ‘Going for Gold’ and have learned our two gold facts this week - 5 x 9 =45 and 3 x 4 =12
Let’s Celebrate!
