Dr Seuss

In RE we have learnt about how many people were excited to see Jesus, they knew he was important but didn’t realise that he was God. Mothers and children came to see him, his disciples didn’t think it was a good idea. So they started to send them away but Jesus said let the children come and blessed them. We thought about what we would say to Jesus if we were there and learnt the song, Jesus loves me with actions.

Maths: We have been looking at cherry diagrams, this has been tricky we have actions to help us remember where the wholes and parts are. We need to ensure that our parts aren’t the same or bigger than the whole number. We drew our own counters up to 10 in two colours to help identify the parts.

English: We have started to retell and write the story of where the wild things are, I have been so impressed with the children they are using their phonics mats to help them become independent learners. We have said the sentence, then wrote it , read it and checked it. It is great to see the children growing their brains and thinking for themselves.

Library Trip:

We loved our trip to the library on Tuesday, thank you for our adult helpers, we wouldn’t have been able to go if you didn’t help. I really appreciate it especially as it was very last minute. We hope you love your cards :). We listened to a story and chose our own books to take home.

Phonics Stay and Play

We are delighted to invite grown ups to our Phonics stay and play. These will take place on Wednesday 7th February and Thursday 8th February at 9:15-10:15.

Please click on the link below to find your date, if you have any questions or problems please let me know.

National Internet Safety Day

Next Tuesday is National Internet Safety Day, we will focus on how we can stay safe online throughout the week. We will also be looking at age appropriateness of games and apps, it would be great if you can continue to have these discussions at home.

Let’s Celebrate:

Lunchtime awards:

Well done to Benji for being a Role Model and Daisy for her Marvellous Manners

Well done to our certificate awardees: a ‘Sadie Spider’ for her amazing sentences in English you are applying your phonics knowledge and becoming more independant. A ‘Cooper Crab’ for your concentration during our class input, you are listening and are ready when I ask you lots of questions.

This person is taking Henry home for his writing this week, you have worked so hard on your handwriting and your sentences in English were brilliant, well done :).

Reminders:

  • Monday afternoon is ENRICHMENT afternoon and this half term the children will be outside gardening with Mrs Hotchkiss, Mrs Mather and Mrs Krol. We need to dig over the raised beds, collect litter, chit potatoes and mulch! We will need an old pair of trousers and wellies/old trainers. We will get mucky

  • Polite reminder that all children across school should bring water in their bottles and not juice. This is something that we discuss regularly in school as part of our discussions about healthy snacks and healthy lunches.
