The sun has been shining this week, we’ve made the most of it and taken our learning outside.

What have we been learning this week……

In RE we reflected on our trip and made connections between Jesus’ life and how Christians live today. We discussed what we thought was the best thing about going to Mass and how we live the Gospel. We have a class challenge to take photos of things we do to live the Gospel, such as helping each other playing, working, listening. We are going to turn these into a PowerPoint to share with any visitors that come into our classroom.

How do you live the Gospel?

English: Our trap worked the dinosaur went back, but on Wednesday it was back again with another visitor, we worked out it must be a caveman. We found the ‘Caveman next Door’ and started to read it predicting what we thought would happen next. We answered the question who would you like to come out of the time machine using the word ‘because’ to explain our thinking.

Computing with Miss Bassett: we love our computing lessons, we had to follow a set of instructions. We then looked at our birds to see if they looked similar to the picture.

Challenge: Can you decorate the Gingerbread house again, following these instructions:

(1) Paint the chimney using cookie dough.

(2) Paint the roof using jellybeans.

(3) Paint the door using chocolate.

(4) Paint the walls using sprinkles.

(5) Leave the windows unpainted.

Can you give clear instructions to a family member, can they give you new instructions to decortate the house?

Music with Miss Lavelle:

This week we have been thinking about the Pitch and Rhythm of music.

Pitch - describes whether the sound is high or low

Rhythm - describes how long or short a note is

To inspire us we listened to the sound a glockenspiel made as we ran a beater up and down the length. We could hear the downward pitch and the upward pitch

These ‘Glissandos’ represented a diver sinking and rising in the water. We popped on our flippers and created a wonderful piece of music.

The sound of the claves were the divers cameras clicking. The triangles and chime bars were the creatures swimming in the ocean and the glissandos on the glockenspiels started and ended our piece.

In Maths we continued our time unit learning about half past, keep working on telling the time, discuss where the minute hand goes where does the hour hand go. We played a racing game where I said the time and the children had to quickly make it, we had so much fun. We started our money unit looking at the different coins, can you ask you child at home if they can identify the coins?

On Wednesday afternoon we had a special visitor, Goldilocks the puppy. She was very good, we got to stroke her and saw her tricks: sit and lie down. She even joined us for our end of day prayer.

Trips:

We have some exciting trips coming up this half term.We really encourage parental engagement so it would be wonderful if we could have some adult helpers. If you are free and would love to join us please can you send me an email.

Trip to the Farmers Market: Thursday 4th July leaving school at 9, will be back at around 10:30/11.

Trip to the Library: Thursday 11th July leaving school at around 1:45 back by hometime.

Upcoming dates and Reminders:

As the weather is so unpredictable. Please can you bring in a named roller suncream into school so the children can apply it themselves while supervised at lunchtime and a rain coat just incase it rains.
Please can you bring in water bottles every day and remember to bring in reading folders so we can quiz and change books.
Please can you ensure football/pokemon cards do not come into school. There are lots being passed around and brought out in the classroom, they are best staying at home so they don’t go missing, thank you.

Polite reminder that all children across school should bring water in their bottles and not juice. This is something that we discuss regularly in school as part of our discussions about healthy snacks and healthy lunches. Please can you bring in healthy snacks please refer to the poster for suitable snack, we always have fruit avalible too.
