Reading
Remember to read everyday, just like we do at school. I would love you to read for at least 20 minutes each day, be that a physical book, an ebook on Epic or Accelerated Reader. If your book has an option to quiz on AR or Epic, please remember to do so.
English
Watch and enjoy Rabbits! Learn about Rabbits for Kids: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dWkMaynGkk. Watch again this time listening carefully for facts about rabbits.
Ask your child to write a simple information fact file about rabbits. This could include: pictures or drawings of rabbits with labels, facts about what they look like, where they live, their ears, what they like to eat and an amazing fact starting with Did you know …?
Once complete, share the fact file by reading the information out loud to a member of the family. Encourage the use of phonics when writing for spelling. Check writing for capital letters and full stops.
Maths
Today I want you to be Lizzie Ladybird’s and practise the maths learning you have done this week. Ask yourself ‘what do I need to practise more to grow my brain?’ Below if a list of links with videos, activities and games which match the learning you have done this week.
Add by making 10 https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zb8gcqt (only watch the video up to 49 seconds).

Next week in maths, we will be learning all about money! It would be really helpful for the children to have some real coins in front of them, a good mix up to £1 (with extra 1ps). At the best of times I’m aware coins are not very hygienic, if there is any way you could disinfect them that would be fantastic. Alternatively, plastic coins or paper coins would be brilliant. I’ve uploaded a pdf below with some pretend money, this could be printed and cut out by the children (cutting practise would be great). Equally, you could draw your own! No money in notes will be needed, so if you do print out the pretend money, please don’t both printing these out.
To all of my wonderful year 1 families, who have been feeling concerned this week. I understand your worries and my thoughts are with all of you at this very challenging time. Whatever happens over the next few weeks, please know that after half-term, I will continue to do everything that I can to support your children, be that from school or from home.
Here is a lovely video from the last time the children were altogether. I hope it makes you smile!
Have a fantastic weekend!
Miss Lane
