What have we been learning this week:

It has been all about our assembly this week, thank you for practicing the lines at home, please practice over the weekend ready for Tuesday, remembering to use a loud clear voice. I am excited for you all to see it on Tuesday we are also perfoming to Year 3 on Monday afternoon as they are swimming on Tuesday morning.

We have had whole class phonics this week, ready to go into new groups next week. Please keep reading at home and practising your sounds. Don’t forget to watch the QR codes at home, Fred games are great for practising our blending skills.

Well done to our certificate awardee: a ‘Cooper Crab and Bobby Bee’ for his focus and enthusiasm with his learning.

Whole School Virtues - Grateful and Generous:

You have been a generous friend, you could see that one of your friends wanted to go in our Role play area but there were too many children in there, so you came out so they could go in. We are grateful for your kindness thank you.

Henry the Dog: Henry is going home with this person for a super week in school you remembered your lines and used a loud clear voice.

Important Information and Upcoming Events

Assembly:

On Tuesday 4th March it is our class assembly there will be two performances at 9:10 and 9:35. You are welcome to watch one or both performances. Please can you practise your childs lines at home over the half term break as we won’t have much time to practise before our performance.

Lenten Boxes

In the lead up to Lent, we will be thinking about how we can support others in our local community. It has become an Our Lady’s tradition to make and swap Lenten boxes. This year, each Reception child will make a Lenten box that they will give to their buddy in Year 6. Year 6 will also be making a Lenten box for Reception.

If you haven’t already please can you make and bring your lenten box into school by Tuesday 4th March. Below is your child’s buddy.

Once swapped, these Lenten boxes can be used to collect donations for acts of kindness.

Library Trip

World Book Day Thursday 6th March- dress up, there are many different ideas that Mrs Gregan has put on her blog, to make this not an expensive event! Children have been asked to bring in a book that they would like to swap with a friend to keep, to pass on the gift of that book to others! We will be also meeting up with our Year 6 partners next week to read with them! Any spare books that have not been swaped will be put towards our school book fair to raise money for our library, so if you have more than one spare please do bring them in.

On Tuesday 11th March we will visit St Annes Library in the afternoon, we will leave school at around 1:30. We really encourage parental/Grandparental engagement so it would be wonderful if we could have some adult helpers. If you are free and would love to join us please can you send me an email. Please note mobile phones can not be used around the children or to take photos of the children. There will be school iPads and photos will be uploaded to the blog.

Forms have been sent home today. If your child does not have a library card and you would like them to have one then please fill in the form and return to school.

Stay and Play

Thank you for those who have filled in the forms. It has helped me to plan the most suitable days for the majority of parents. Our sessions will be on:

Friday 4th April 9:15 - 10:15

and

Monday 7th April 2:15 - 3:15.

Please fill in the form and select your preferred date. If you can’t make either date any family member is welcome to attend in your place. We are very excited to share with you our learning from our Spring term.

Show and Tell:

Please look below to see which day your child can share their show and tell news. We love to celebrate each child’s achievements in class. So we use show and tell as an opportunity to share things that they are proud of, or to share something that is important to them. Great show and tell examples are: sharing photos, bringing in certificates or medals, a souvenir  from a trip out or something that they have made at home.

Important Reminders:

  • Polite reminder that we are a Nut free school. Please can you bring in healthy snacks please refer to the poster for suitable snacks, we always have fruit avalible too.

  • PE
Our PE days are Tuesday (outside) and Friday (inside). On these days, children can come to school in their PE uniform and will remain in this for the day. We kindly ask that velcro trainers (white, black or navy) are worn as this allows the children to be indepoendent when taking their shoes off and putting them back on. Polite reminder that for health and safety reasons, no jewellery is to be worn on PE days. We kindly ask that this is removed at home before coming into school.

  • Art T-shirt
Please can you bring in an art T-shirt, if you haven’t already, these help us keep uniforms as clean as possible.

  • Jumpers: please can you check that your child has brought the right jumper or PE jacket home, they can easily get mixed up when bags are being packed, there are a few missing in class, thank you.
