Gym Jam Jog Blog!

We had a very exciting start to our Friday with a special ‘Gym Jam Jog’ together around the field as one whole school family.
It was wonderful to see all of the children and grown-ups and to have everyone joining in the fun together. We are so grateful for all of the sponsors, thank you so much! Year 1 were very ambitious when they set their goals and ran so many laps of the field that we were definitely ready for our tasty breakfast when we got back to the classroom!

(Please read the notices for some important information regarding next week.)

Here are some highlights from the Gym Jam Jog….

What have we been learning this week?

In Maths, we have been continued to explore numbers to 100. We focused partitioning the numbers into tens and ones. This has really helped us to make sure we write the digits the correct way round. We have also explored a ‘hundred square’ and noticed some very interesting patterns in the rows and columns. Next week we will be using these to help us order numbers up to 100!

In English, we received an exciting new book, ‘How to train a train’. This inspired us to try and trap our own pet train. We put on our creative thinking hats and thought of interesting and exciting ways that we could trap a train. We had lots of fun acting them out and then wrote about it using some super sentences!

Hip-Hip-Hooray!

Certificates:

Curious Clara Clownfish: Alice
Alice, you have been a fantastic historian this week and have asked some curious Clara Clownfish questions. I really enjoyed reading your interesting facts and comparative sentences. It’s lovely to see how much you are enjoying this topic!
Well done Alice!

Reflective Lizzie Ladybird: Joseph
Joseph, you have been a reflective Lizzie Ladybird and setting yourself a goal and I am so proud of how much you enjoy growing your brain. You have really impressed us with your writing this term and it is wonderful to see how proud you are of yourself too!

  • Next Wednesday (29th June) we will be going to church as a whole school community to celebrate the feasts of Saints Peter and Paul. As this is the first time we have been to mass together in such a long time, we need as many pairs of hands as possible to help to get us there and back safely. We will leave school at approximately 9:10am and will be back at school no later than 11am. If you can help and walk with us on this day, please send me an email. Your help is greatly appreciated; thank you in advance!

  • This term the children will need to wear their PE kits on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
