"See, I told you we were learning tricky vocabulary"!

This week, all of Reception have shone so brightly during their assembly performances and we can’t think of a better way to have ended the half term! We are unbelievably proud of them. The courage and bravery in which they learnt and delivered their lines and the enthusiasm they showed towards all of the learning that has led up to it. They were all so excited to share this learning with you and to show that they may be one of the youngest year groups in school, but there is no limit to what they can achieve!

Reception, we are so proud of you and I know you are proud of yourselves too. Have a wonderful half term; rest and enjoy time with your friends and families. We will return to a new topic ‘Up Up and Away’, and we can’t wait to see where that learning journey takes us!

Fylde Rangers

During the next half term, Reception will be taking part in Ranger activities which will be led by the Fylde Rangers. This is a brilliant opportunity to learn more about the wildlife and habitats in our local area and to explore exciting new skills. These will include a range of activities which the Fylde Rangers will deliver in school leading up to our final session on Thursday 11th July when we will visit Fairhaven Lake for some more ranger activities (further information regarding the trip to fairhaven lake will be shared when we return after the half term break).

As these activities will be outside, Reception will need to have a pair of wellies and a pair of gloves (gardening gloves or wooly gloves) in school. Please could both items be brought into school on Monday 10th June so we have them ready for our first rangers session. These will remain in school until after our final session.

Thank you!

Half Term Challenges!

In reading packets this half term you will find your challenge books with two special videos to continue practise our writing and spelling skills. Use the page next to the QR codes to write your words. Don’t forget to use a pencil, think about your letter formation and if you make a mistake, have your purple pencil come to the rescue!

Each child has also chosen a library book to enjoy over the holidays. Reception, I challenge you to try and read some of the words and see how many tricky words you can spot!

Remember, we have achieved so much so far this year; lets keep practising!

Optional Challenges!

It is wonderful that the children are so excited about their learning and to see how keen they are to continue this outside of school. We welcome any opportunity to share these learning experiences with you at home, which is why we have created ‘optional challenges’ across each year group which can be explored over this Summer 1 half term.

These challenges link to the wider area of our curriculum which in EYFS are:
Understanding the World (Science, Geography and History), Expressive Arts and Design (Art. DT and Music) and our Gross and Fine motor skills (PE).

Below you will find the optional challenges linking to the topics and areas of learning that we will be exploring this half term. These fun challenges are designed to cover a range of skills without being stressful or time consuming for you at home. You are welcome to complete them in any order you wish and it would be lovely to see pictures or examples of things that the children have enjoyed at home.

As always, thank you for your continued support.
