We hope you all had a wonderful Easter, the children have come back to school raring to go! We’re been really impressed with their focus and enthusiasm for learning.
Worship
Following the sad news of Pope Francis’s passing, we have spent a lot of time reflecting on his life and how he has inspired us. The children have written prayers to be included in a condolence book that will make its way to Rome this weekend.
On Thursday we watch The Mark 10 Mission little liturgy and heard how the Jesus appeared to his friends on the evening of Easter Sunday, but one of them wasn't there, Thomas. Thomas struggled to believe that Jesus was alive and Jesus taught him something important. Greg helped us know that Jesus is also speaking to us through his words to Thomas. We then joined Jesus in prayer. Afterwards, we sing 'I Could Sing of Your Love Forever' with Angel.
Our learning this week…
English and Computing - We’ve been putting together our Roman leaflets digitally on Purple mash using all the skills we learned last half term in our computing lesson.
Maths - We have started a new unit of working and have been looking at efficient ways of adding two 3 digit number. We have practised partitioning, adjusting and redistribution.
Spelling - The weeks spellings are statutory year 3 words - please see or homework blog.
Music - Jazz is our focus this half term. We listen to a piece of music called Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin, it is an example of a type of music called Ragtime. Ragtime is a type of piano music that uses syncopation and a fast tempo. We then listened to and sang along with The Jungle Book song Bare necessities which has many similarities to ragtime.
PE - Our PE days are still Wednesdays and Thursdays - now that we have finished our swimming lessons we will have 2 PE lessons in school. We have started our athletic and teamwork units of work.
