This week we have been exploring our feelings and how they can affect how we may sometimes behave. The children love this story and it really helps them to self regulate.

Hungry Little Minds is a new government campaign to support parents with helping their children to develop well in the areas of Communication Language and Literacy. The key message for parents from the campaign is:
‘Many little things light up hungry little minds. Children take everything in, and even the smallest things you do with them can make a big difference. They love it when you chat and read with them, even when they’re too young to understand everything. Whatever the time and wherever you are, you can turn almost anything in to a game. And every little things you do together will help set them up nicely for the day they start school’

Look at our wonderful self portraits! We have displayed them for you all to see!
It has been such a wonderful week at nursery. The children have embraced nursery life with great enthusiasm, we are so pleased.
During this week we have been painting and drawing pictures of ourselves. We have looked closely at our faces and bodies in a mirror and asked questions such as “how many”, “why”, “the same or different” and “what does each body part do?” We hope to have our 'There’s only one world and one me’ display finished next week, please try and pop in for a look! We will be extending this learning thread by discussing exercise and healthy eating.
At the beginning we introduced the number 1 and have spent the whole week exploring this particular number in all its entirety. We have found it hiding in our environment, in books and in songs that we have been singing, in fact we found there is 1 ‘something’ everywhere.
Could I take this opportunity to remind everyone to ensure that your child has one piece of fruit for each session that they are at nursery and a blue Our Lady book bag. Book bags can be purchased fro Top Mark in Wood St, St Annes.
This week everyone should have received their welcome newsletter from their key person. If for some reason you have not yet received yours please let me know.
I believe the weather is going to be lovely this weekend, I hope you all have the time to enjoy it!
Welcome to nursery!
A very warm welcome to all our children and their families.
I hope that everyone has managed to have a restful summer and are ready for a very busy term at nursery.
It has been a lovely start to the year. All the new children have enjoyed exploring the both the indoor and outdoor environments, and for the returning children it has been great to see their friendships pick up from where they left off in July.
Next week your key person will be making contact with you via a welcome newsletter. You will also be either invited to come along to nursery to meet your designated person, or alternatively arrange for a home visit.
As always there will be dates for you diary, these too will be listed on your newsletter. The nursery blog is usually live from Thursday afternoon, please try to check it weekly to avoid missing any important information.
In the meanwhile, if there is anything you need to know or discuss please do not hesitate to contact me.
As we have reached the end of the year I would like to take a couple of minutes to reflect.
It has been the most wonderful year, packed with fun and learning. We have thoroughly enjoyed working alongside your children and it has been an honour to watch each child blossom and grow. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your child’s life and your family.
It is with great sadness that we must now let many of our children go, so they can continue their learning journey. I am confident that they will embrace reception with ’gusto’ and fly!
To the families returning to nursery in September…get ready for even more fun next year !!! We can’t wait!
I must also thank each and every one of our parents. Your unwavering support of nursery has made our work this year so enjoyable. Thank YOU!
Enjoy the summer!

We have all been enjoying this lovely weather this week. There has been lots of water play and ice pops!! Let’s hope the weather lasts for the weekend.
May I remind everyone that if you would like a copy of the images we have taken of your child throughout the year, please send a clear USB to nursery NEXT WEEK.
Such a super Sports day. The children wore their bespoke t-shirts and showcased all the fundamental movement skills we have been working on throughout the year. Everyone had great fun and when we got back to nursery we all had rocket ice lollies!
Please remember to press your child’s t-shirt for three minutes before washing it. This will to seal in the colours.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed taking part in today’s fund raising event...even though it was raining! It was such an early start Barbara, Clare and Sarah were exhausted! A big thank you for getting involved.
Everyone is excited about the launch of the new school website!
Nursery’s page can be found by clicking the ‘Learn’ button at the top of the ‘Home’ page. It is worth checking what is happening each week to ensure you don’t miss anything. Furthermore, you will be able to find out what we have been learning about at nursery. I will be blogging every Thursday…hopefully.
It has been a glorious half term with the children experiencing lots of new and exciting learning opportunities.
