With only three days left of this half term, we are all trying to squeeze as much fun learning in as possible before we break for a well earned rest.
In Art…
Year one have had a really exciting lesson as we watched Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy on the big screen in the classroom. We had to look out for all of the dogs and of course Scarface Claw, what was their fur like? Long and shaggy, short and straight? What colours was their fur? We then tried really hard and drew what the fur looked like.
Year two were met in the Create room by the Create room Toys. Sat on their tables was one teddy bear each, as they are in my bubble and not year two’s bubble, they were not allowed to give the children cuddles which was a shame but the children understood that the toys were in quarantine. We drew what they looked like from different angles as we continued our observational drawing lesson.
Year three finished their drawing topic by showing their creativity with lace, so delicate and fine, could we draw and copy this? With a section glued into our sketch books we carefully matched and continued the patterns, some even moved on to white lace in black paper with a white pencil.
Year four finished their John Brunsdon work from last week before we looked at the art of William Morris. As we looked at samples of his wall paper, some of us recognised this and said they had this in their homes. His papers are still very popular today. We each a sample which we glued in our book as we continued the pattern in all its splendor.
Year five came face to face with a host of musical instruments, as they entered the Create room, none of which we were able to touch or play, these were to be our focus for our observational drawing lesson. Could we draw what we could actually see, not what we thought we could see? Adding tone and shading to make these as realistic as possible.
Year six learned how to draw the human face. Using a template to start with we drew everything in the correct place, correct size and correct shapes. After we used a mirror to look carefully at our own face and using our new knowledge had a go at drawing a self portrait.
The Home Gallery has more of your fabulous home art, do take a look. Next week my Art Monitors will be setting a home challenge on the Home Gallery page for over half term. Do remember to have a look and send me your photos and i will post them under the challenge. I think I’ll even have to have a go, I wonder what it will be.
Hopefully the sun will shine for us this weekend and into our final week.
Stay safe
God bless
