Firstly, a massive thank you to Miss Edmondson and Mr Bennett for all their wonderful teaching and support this week. Through virtual teaching and many filmed lessons we have all managed to keep well and truly on track! We can all read and plot complex line graphs which have appeared in our geography lesson on climate, as well as maths. And in English we have begun to read our new class novel “The Midnight Fox” a book written in the 1950’s and now considered a classic. It is a beautiful book that allows us to explore some important social and emotional issues.
Next week Advent begins and the children are keen to think of others at this special time. A number of years ago the school made links with St. Peters in Uganda. We raised money to build a toilet block and new kitchen facilities. In 2017 the school completed the build- as you can see for the pictures. I have remained in contact with Charles Weleba the Head Teacher.
Together we have decided to create pen pals between their school and ours and this week Year 5 prepared a first draft of a letter they want to send to their new friends. We also discussed at length in council ways in which we could raise money for St. Peters during Advent. Charles (Head teacher) was touched by this hope and informed me that the school are currently making a library for all the textbooks they require. I informed the class and the children are very excited about helping out. They have come up with some great ideas and I’ll share our plans with you next week once they have been finalized!
Mr Bennett has been busy playing cricket this week and apparently he is a very good skipper (playtime)! We have some pictures to share too
Grow your Brain Certificates went to : Harry and Emmanuel
Mrs Nel and I will be returning to the class later next week and we can’t wait to continue with our exciting learning especially our very practical science lessons!!!
God Bless always xxxx
