Year 5 Homework to be handed in on Friday 6th March

I have asked the children to bring their homework in on Friday instead of Thursday next week because next Thursday will be hectic.

Reading

Great to see so many children taking tests on their return to school for books they completed in the holidays. All the children have a new target so they have something to aim at over the next few weeks. Please make sure you have a good reading routine at home.

Maths

Please complete D3 and D20 on IXL

Shakespeare Festival- lines to learn

Please organise your costume ( see main blog) you need to bring this on MONDAY. We have also been asked to learn two lines for the end of the show. I have attached these here. As you can see we will say these all together.

The children also have a photo permission form form the RSC- could you please complete and return by Monday

Art

Sadly we will miss art for two weeks due to Ash Wednesday and our technical rehearsal time. I have promised the children to place art on the homework this week. We are moving our topics on now the Space and Planet Earth. For a new display in class can you draw some creative aliens. I have given everyone four pieces of card. Please draw/paint/crayon etc the most amazing aliens onto them ready to create some lovely borders.

Alms giving in Lent

The children and I have been discussing alms giving for Lent. We have created an alms giving box in class. We will need your help to collect money in it. We have decided each week to set an alms giving task. This week we are going to complete a chore at home for 20p. We decided that tidying our rooms would be a good start. We hope you will give us 20p, we now it isn’t alot but together it will be £6. If we do this every week we could raise a significant amount for CAFOD.

We promise to tidy our rooms humbly and without fanfare.

“Do not do good things so that people will see you do them. If you do, you will get no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give money to poor people, do not send men in front of you to blow trumpets or horns. Some people do this in the meeting houses and on the streets so that people will praise them. They are not true to themselves. I tell you the truth. They have their pay already. But when you give money to poor people, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. In this way, what you give to the poor will be secret. Your Father sees secret things and he will reward you.” Matt 6 1-4
