Reading
Follow the link below to read along with a book called ‘A Sunflower’s Life Cycle’. Just like we do in our Read Write Inc. lessons, I would like you to have a go at reading this book first yourself. Once you have had a go at reading it, ask a grown up or an older brother or sister to read it to you.

Questions to talk about:
Is this book a fiction or a non-fiction book? How do you know?
Why do sunflower stems have tiny hairs on them? Prove it by finding the answer in the book.
What do the leaves use to make food for the sunflower plant? Prove it by finding the answer in the book.
English/Science
Write instructions explaining how to plant a sunflower seed and how to take care of it. Can you use ordering language to do this? e.g. First, Then, After that etc. Edit your instructions with a coloured pencil. Don’t forget to use full stops and capital letters.
Maths
On SumDog I have set you an exciting challenge all to do with measuring length. You have until Friday to do this work.
Grown ups, please can you provide the children with a selection of objects, all of varying lengths. Children I want you to measure the objects and write down their lengths in your red maths book. e.g. book—10 cm . Can you order the objects from longest to shortest?
PE
Tune in to The Body coach for ‘PE with Joe’ at 9 o’clock this morning, to get you warmed up for the day ahead. https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1
Tiger Challenge
Can you make a paper aeroplane and decorate it in the style of your favourite book?
Big smiles,
Miss Lane
