Phonics

Today I would like you to watch the set 2 and set 3 speed sounds, by clicking on the link.

English/Reading

Go to the How to help your child page and choose an accelerated reader ebook to read.

Follow the link below to read along with a book called ‘A Sunflower’s Life Cycle’. Just like we do in our Read Write Inc. lessons, I would like you to read this book for a second time, on your own. Remember to be a resilient Sadie Spider and sound out any words you are unsure of.

Non-Fiction books often have a glossary of key words in the back of the book. This is so people can look up the meaning of a word if they don’t understand it. Can you find a book in your house that has a glossary in it? The Sunflower book is missing a glossary and I would love you to make one of your own. Can you find out the meaning of the following words and write them in a sentence. For an extra challenge can you put the sound buttons on the words to show, each sound, including special friends and split diagraphs?

bract flower leaf root seed stem shoot petal

Here is an example glossary for a book all about spiders.

Maths

Grown ups please go to the following website: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ . Today I would like you to do Lesson 1 Introduce weight and mass, with your child. There is a short video for you to watch and discuss together. Please pause the video and give your child time to explain their reasoning to you. Following on from this, there are some questions for your child to answer.

On SumDog I have set you an exciting challenge all to do with comparing weight and mass. You have until next Wednesday to do this work.

PE

Tune in to The Body coach for ‘PE with Joe’ at 9 o’clock this morning, to get you warmed up for the day ahead. https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

Tiger Challenge

How many words can you think of that rhyme with the word sun?

Have a super-duper day,
