This week in English we are going to be re-visiting our good friend, Peter Rabbit. On BBCiplayer I would like you to watch Peter Rabbit: The Tale of the Missing Ducklings. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b063cxjy/peter-rabbit-series-2-17-the-tale-of-the-missing-ducklings

Questions to talk about:

  1. Why did Jemima Puddleduck need the bunnies to look after her ducklings?

  2. Do you think the bunnies wanted to look after the ducklings? How do you know?

  3. Which of these words best describes Mr Tod? selfish cheeky thoughtful cunning

  4. Why did Jemima Puddleduck say, “Shame on you Mr Todd”? What did she mean by this?

  5. Is there anything you would change about this story?

 Reading

This week I would like you to take some time to get cosy and listen to some Peter Rabbit tales by Beatrix Potter. Maybe you could listen to them while you draw your favourite Beatrix Potter characters?https://stories.audible.com/pdp/B00IZMHQSE?ref=adbl_ent_anon_ds_pdp_pc_pg-1-cntr-0-2

I have also got two books for you to read this week. The second book is a bit more challenging, why don’t you read it with a grown up? Don’t forget to keep reading books of your choice on Accelerated Reader and quizzing on them too!

Today I would like you to do Lesson 3 Compare Mass, with your child.  There is a short video for you to watch and discuss together. Please pause the video and give your child time to explain their reasoning to you. Following on from this, there is some questions for your child to answer.

Don’t forget your comparing weight and mass challenge, on SumDog. You have until Wednesday to do this.

PE

Tune in to The Body coach for ‘PE with Joe’ at 9 o’clock this morning, to get you warmed up for the day ahead. https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

Check out this weeks PE challenge.

History

This week I have an exciting history project for you to do. I would like you to create something to commemorate the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. Can you remember what commemorate means? Maybe you could design a new coin or a stamp? Maybe you could make a space shuttle of your own or even write a poem/song? The more creative the better. Please send me a photo of you and your creation by the end of the week. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Tiger Challenge

Can you practise your bunny hop today? Can you bunny hop in a straight line and then change direction?

For those of you who would like something extra to keep you busy, I have set you two computing challenges on Purple Mash. One is typing practise on 2Type and the other is directional mazes using 2Go. Don’t forget to look on the How to Help your Child page for more ideas.

Enjoy!

Miss Lane

P.S. Grown ups, you are doing a BRILLIANT job. As all of the children learn differently I have set a few more ongoing challenges this week. Please use the extra challenges I am giving you flexibly; I recognise that some children will get through more learning than others. If you need anything at all, don’t hesitate to email me e.lane@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk . :)
