Good morning year 1! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the glorious sunshine! English
Purple Mash has a brilliant resource called ‘Serial Mash’ which we now have access to. This week all of the English tasks will be based on a story called ‘Anna and the Third Leaf’ which I have set in the children’s ‘To Do’ area, on Purple Mash. By clicking ‘To Do’, each day, you will have access to that day’s chapter and other activities linked to what the children have read. Please prioritise reading the chapter and then doing the quiz; I have added two other activities for your child to do if they would like to. Some of the children may need support reading the chapter. Please encourage them to sound out tricky words and use their Fred fingers. Once they have had a go at reading it, I would love you to read it aloud to them.
Lots of you are now using Epic Reading which is brilliant. Please email me on e.lane@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk if you would like your child to use it.
Maths
Grown ups, please go to the following website: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ . Today I would like you to do Summer 1 Week 1 - Lesson 2 Make Equal groups (grouping), with your child. There is a short video for you to watch and discuss together. Please pause the video and give your child time to explain their reasoning to you. Following on from this, there is some questions for your child to answer. Remember your child can answer the questions in their maths books, please don’t feel the need to print the worksheet.
Have a super Monday,
Miss Lane
