English

Watch The Highway Rat animation film again for a final time if required: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09kkt1k/the-highway-rat or go back to the story being read aloud https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkVoYeCLIXU. Ask your child to find their favourite character in the story, from whom the Highway Rat steals food. Discuss how they are feeling and what they might be thinking. Talk about what the police might ask them if they were to be interviewed. Write some questions in role as a Police Officer to your chosen character. Remember to include a question mark, e.g. Who did you see? What did he look like? What did he ask for? What did he take? For those children who want to challenge themselves further could you do a ‘magic mirror microphone’, in the role of your character and answer your questions? This is one of the children’s favourite activities - so they will know what I mean by this.

Reading

I can see from Accelerated Reader and Epic that you are all doing lots of reading. Well done! If you haven’t done so already, make sure you quiz on the Highway Rat on Accelerated Reader.

Maths

Follow the link to the White Rose website - https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/. Today you are doing Summer 1, Week 3, Day 4 - Add more and count on within 20. Watch the video lesson and then have a go at the questions.

There will be no home learning tomorrow as it is a Bank Holiday. I hope you all have a lovely 3 day weekend and I will be back on Monday morning with some, drum roll please, “New learning!”

Missing you all!
